Happy New Year!
It’s that time of year again where everyone makes their New Year’s Resolutions.
The top resolution is usually to lose weight or be healthier.
I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle (eating well and exercising) but it’s always good to have a little fun too.
Life is about living!
This is why I love the 80-20 rule. It allows you to enjoy food and drinks. Who wants to be on a diet and eating frozen or packaged food their whole life? Yuck.
Instead of depriving yourself this new year- educated yourself and make smart food choices.
Here’s my 2 Recommendations:
1) Eat only real foods. It’s that simple.
2) Make smart drinking choices. If you are going to drink (which for most people especially those living in NYC is most of their unwanted calories) chose wisely. Don’t order margaritas which are filled with sugar instead opt for healthier versions of your favorite drinks.
My favorite are:
- Laurent- Perrier’s Ultra Brut Champagne which has only 65 calories in 1 glass!
- My own ‘skinny’ Margarita (Ask the bartender for tequila, water, & lime juice)

I like the 80-20 rule. Plenty of room for sweets
mm the skinny margarita sounds good.I am with you in the 80 20 rule. I could never eat perfect all the time. Each day I strive for that 80 20 balance so that I feel happy and not deprived.
I also tend to live by the 80-20 rule. And I am alwayss trying to eat REAL foods
Your dress: Stunning!!!!! Happy New Year
Thank you! I got it at the Alice and Olivia Sample Sale
Love your skinny margarita idea! I usually get vodka + soda with lime!
Happy New Year! Thanks for the congrats! We are so excited!
yumm Skinny Margarita!! My drink of choice is vodka / soda!
It’s so true that alcohol is the majority of my non “clean” calories, if I were to label it. I’d rather have wine with dinner than dessert (though sometimes I crave both). Lucky for me I have a palate for STRONG drinks which means I can typically drink cocktails that barely have anything in them other than liquor – or just straight alcohol! My palate makes me naturally crave less sweet alcoholic beverages. But man that champagne sounds good, I will have to look for it!
I agree – booze calories totally add up. One of my favorite drinks is a wine spritzer. It’s fizzy and has about half the calories of regular wine.
LOVE your dress, and yes, I am a big fan of tequila and lime juice too! You don’t need all the sugary nonsense. It just makes me feel worse!
My only “food” resolution is to eat more beligan waffles
Love making those in the morning haha.
Happy 2013
Happy new year sweetie! Heck yes to living life. Most of my “treat meals” are in fact calories from alcohol. I can easily pass on dessert, but I like my wine and vodka. I’m like Caitlin, I actually prefer the taste of straight alcohol, I hate mixed drinks so much. Bleh. I love that skinny margarita. No need for the sugary extras.
Majority of people likes 80-20 rule. Wish you all a very happy and healthy new year.
