Workout Rut: Motivation?

I broke my toe in December and have since been in a workout rut.

Well..my toe is healed now but DAMN it’s been hard to get back into my usual  routine.

I have to remind myself:

Working out makes me feel sexy
It helps me get stronger
It helps me feel proud of myself
It improves my health
I want a great butt
I want to feel good in my clothes
It reduces my risk of cancer
It lifts my mood
It makes me feel accomplished
Dieting only works so much
It helps me de-stress
It’s cheaper than therapy
It keeps my mind sharp
It helps me sleep better at night
It gives me more energy (No, that nap I think is a better idea will actually make me feel ever more tired!)
I want to stay healthy as I age

workout rut

I want to live longer
Exercise improves my sex life
Being fit just makes everything in life better
It’ll make clothing shopping more fun
Because I don’t want to let myself go
Because I’m  tired of being tired
Because not working out is not getting my very far

A wise friend recently told me ‘Stop talking and get off your butt’

ok- Yoga here I come…

  1. This is all great motivation! I love all of it- especially about sleeping in energy. It’s so true!

  2. sometimes extended breaks can be good or bad. I took almost three months off two years ago and I came back almost frustrated, but in reality I found a new love for running, the mental aspects of what it gave me

  3. Perfect motivation to get my butt in gear:)

  4. After reading all of these motivations, I completely agree! Every once in a while I am in a workout rut where I physically can’t get myself to go to the gym. About three months ago I cracked my heel in half therefore, I was unable to workout for almost two months. After I got my boot off and was told by the doctor that I could workout again, I found it hard to get back into a workout routine. However, now that spring break is fast approaching I am able to push myself to go to the gym almost daily. Reading this blog is definitely a motivation to keep on working out and eating healthy!

  5. Not quite true…I have regretted some workouts, (overexertion mostly).
